Carl E. Colbert, C.P.A. has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1981. He began his career with the international accounting firm of Peat Marwick Mitchell, where he focused on the estate and succession planning areas of taxation as well as developing broad skills in accounting and taxation for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
In 1983, Mr. Colbert joined Mallah, Furman and Company, a major local accounting firm,, where he became a Principal and was the Chair of the Estate, Trust and Succession Planning practice group. He was also responsible for all state income tax and sales tax issues. Other areas of his practice included tax research, tax planning, compliance preparation and compliance review. He actively engaged in the analysis and implementation of accounting procedures and controls.
In 1993, he co-founded the firm that is today Colbert Boué & Associates, LLP. He is a highly regarded expert in the area of estates and trusts taxation, as well as serving his individual and corporate clients in the areas of accounting, taxation, I.R.S. representation and tax consulting. He takes pride in his ability to form long-standing relationships with his clients which focus on their overall tax and estate goals, approaching his practice in a holistic way that encompasses the entire financial picture for his clients.
As a resident of South Florida for most of his life, Mr. Colbert has become involved in the community in both professional and civic organizations. He has served as the Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and the Secretary of the Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center Foundation. He is a past President of the South Dade Estate Planning Council and a member of the Greater Miami Estate Planning council, and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has coached soccer and served as a youth leader for Conquest Catholic Youth Ministry.
